I think the quality of Kyle’s design is outstanding. It is interesting, imaginative and fun. The concept of line is in my opinion the strongest part in this piece. The lines that are used to convey the motion of the planes are a good addition. I like the simplicity of the design, I think, however, some clouds or something would help enhance the negative space. The concept of bombers actually dropping Bomb-pops is just too cool. Overall, this is a very well thought out design.

1. How is space used in the composition? (filling the space:concept of Positive/Negative explored. Techniques which may create the illusion of space(which techniques)? How were elements of space used to optimum effect in composition? If space was not effective give reasons.
A. In this composition the 2 bombers were you to show positive and negative space. One is place higher, smaller and darker showing the illusion of 3d space. The popsicles symbolize bombs dropping. The popsicles at different levels and darkness is you to fill the space and to show movement as well.

Question 3 – Shape
How is shape used in the composition?
Good Job Kyle, good use of grouping your shapes to convey volume as the icepops go downfrom smaller size to biger ones really convey the illusion of 3d with the compliments of the upper side of the objects blurring out suggesting motion as they drop down. Just as the second aircraft on the left with darker color or shaded makes it look far at a distance. Good job.

Question #2 Line
How is line used in the compsition? contour, types of line, emotion or texture effectively used.
Line was was illustrated very well with the popsicle falling down, creating an illusion of a line. The placement of the planes also shows line effectively shows direction.

Question 4 – Personal Perspective – Concept

Student critiqued: Kyle

How effectively was the concept of “transportation” explored? Do you think that this student successfully communicated transportation as the main idea of the composition; if not what do you think the main concept is?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This piece explored an amusing concept of transportation – transporting and releasing popcicle bombs. It made me laugh because I thought it was a very clever idea. Texas definitely needs to be bombed like this on our many hot days.
Your colour choices made the piece very cohesive, too. I think the bombing idea slightly overshadows the transportation idea the tiniest bit, but overall the transportation concept was effectively and amusingly explored. You stepped out of the box successfully and I’d love to see more.
